Social services case workers/ providers:

Social workers will do initial assessment of each homeless person’s appropriateness for the facility. Service providers will be on site to assess employment skills, education assistance, medical needs or other services residents may require. Among the participating agencies:

  • PERC (Pinellas Ex-Offender Re-Entry Coalition) – Case management, life skills  classes and re-entry services
  • Operation PAR, Inc. – Treatment services
  • WestCare - Treatment services
  • Suncoast – Treatment services
  • STARS/Strive Program – employment readiness services
  • AA - 12 step meetings
  • Literacy Council of St. Petersburg – Literacy tutoring
  • Public Defender’s Office Homeless Outreach Diversion Program – Diversion services to have local ordinance violations dismissed
  • Pinellas County Social Workers – initial assessment/intake, coordination of services for general homeless population, and life skills classes
  • Three meals daily.
  • Hot meals will be warmed at The Harbor but there is no kitchen on the premises.
  • Community food provider partners are being sought and encouraged to donate.
  • Underwear and T-shirts will be available for distribution.
  • Racks of donated clothes will also be available for use.
  • There will be washers and dryers on the premises so residents can do their own laundry.
  • Homeless clients who are employed or require transportation to employment or medical appointments will be accommodated as it is feasible.
  • The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) buses stop near the shelter and PSTA route maps are available at the shelter.
  • Residents will be asked to help maintain the facility and inmate workers from the Jail will also be utilized for this purpose.
